Salvation Army Shelter

We work weekly at this Salvation Army Shelter for the homeless in Santa Monica by participating in their feeding program. "Sam-O-Shell" at 505 Olympic is a shelter for the homeless, jointly sponsored by the Salvation Army and the City of Santa Monica. "Clients," as they are called, get two hot meals every day, and live "dormitory style" in what many of them refer to as the best shelter in Southern California. Although it is limited to 100 men and women, it has a very active jobs program requiring all to actively seek work. Counseling and some medical care is also provided. Volunteers are needed primarily for the daily feeding programs.

Over one hundred people stay in the Salvation Army shelter in Santa Monica. Without this opportunity to get back on their feet, they would be homeless and without much hope.

"Clients," as they are called by the shelter staff, live dormitory-style here and sleep in comfortable bunk beds.

or if you have suggestions for other service activities to post here.
